Education programs and personal counseling in money management, debt management, and comprehensive housing counseling are needed within a community.  Improving general financial knowledge within the community can fight credit and foreclosure crises, thereby improving the performance of the economy.

Dennis Campa, Director, Department of Community Initiatives, City of San Antonio

Dennis Campa was appointed Director of the City of San Antonio’s Department of Community Initiatives (DCI) in May 1998.  He has more than 36 years of experience in human development services, including work at the city, county, and state levels.

DCI promotes human development opportunities for San Antonio and the region.  Through a comprehensive network of private and public sector partnerships, the department uses its investments and influence to address the complex and changing issues confronting families, elderly and the workforce of a major urban community.  Mr. Campa leads several nationally recognized efforts including school readiness, family economic success, senior services, and human services reform.  DCI, directly and through its funded partner delegate agencies, serves more than 226,000 residents annually.

David Pinkney, Consumer Credit Counseling Services in San Antonio

David Pinkneyis a certified consumer credit counselor and housing specialist with Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater San Antonio.  He is certified through both NeighborWorks and the National Foundation of Credit Counseling, in budget, credit, housing, and foreclosure prevention.  He also conducts Credit and Financial Literacy seminars for adults at local employers, universities, and in the communities which CCCS serves.

Since 1984 CCCS of Greater San Antonio has provided professional consumer credit and money management education, confidential counseling, and debt repayment services.  They are HUD and EOUST (Bankruptcy) approved, and have 13 offices located throughout the state.

Adolph Torres, Housing Loan Coordinator, Department of Housing and Neighborhood Services, City of San Antonio

Adolph Torres joined the City of San Antonio, Housing and Neighborhood Services over four years ago.  He oversees the Homeownership Incentive Program and Homebuyers Club.

Adolph’s affordable housing industry background includes over 13 years administering first-time homebuyer education and down payment assistance programs through Neighborhood Housing Services and the City of San Antonio.  He also has over 20 years of banking experience.  Adolph currently coordinates the market of the City’s Homeownership Incentive Program and Homebuyers Club to Realtors®, lenders and the Hispanic Community.  He is a graduate of the San Antonio Hispanic Camber of Commerce Leadership Development Program and has received a Certificate of Professional Recognition in Homebuyer Education Training from Neighborworks America.  Adolph has also completed a program that certifies him as a trainer for City of San Antonio’s 12,000 employees Training and Career Development.  He has completed a series of classes and examinations to become a certified Housing Development Finance Professional through the National Development Council.
